The seventh annual Hometown Hero day is being planned for
Memorial Day Weekend Saturday May 24. Last year's event drew a great crowd and
everyone enjoyed the fellowship and fun along with the celebration of all our
heroes. There were serious moments too as we remembered the sacrifices that have
given our great country the freedom and prosperity we enjoy. This year we hope
to have everyone that can to
bring photographs, memorabilia, letters, news and magazine articles for all to
enjoy. Parade participants should make signs for their hero's vehicles and
decorate with flags if possible. Also, please bring a table for your display and
chairs if you have them or you may attach photo copies (not originals) to the
"hero wall." We will provide the tables that we have to display photos in
Who is your hero? Someone who saved your house? Your child?
Someone who gave you something when you needed it? They may have assisted you
when you were in an accident or restored your electricity during a winter storm.
They are all around our town and country and even the nation and the world. The
Hometown Hero Day is being planned to celebrate all of our "heroes." The
displays will include volunteer and paid active military and veterans, police,
fire, medical, rescue, wrecker operators, linemen, hospice and so on. The list
could be endless, it may be a good neighbor, a preacher or a special nurse,
maybe an author or speaker who changed your life. If you would like to share
your hero please bring items to the town square for display.
Enjoy displays of articles, photographs, artifacts and
memorabilia along with great food fun and fellowship and entertainment. Be sure
to bring your lawn chairs!
Please stand clap and cheer to show support for the
